He was nominated by President Joe Biden and sworn into office as the 12th United States Secretary of Education on March 2, 2021. Throughout his 27-year career in education, Secretary Cardona has focused on improving educational access and equity—from his own classroom of fourth-grade students to the 65 million students across the nation.
